Translation services
We provide high quality translations in the following areas:
- Medical devices and instrumentation
- Technical manuals
- Computer hardware/software manuals
- Legal
- Financial
- Business/Marketing
The translation process consists of the following steps:
Step 1:
When you approach us to translate a document, we will ask you a number of questions:
- Do you have an established terminology/glossary that you want us to use? Do you want this translation to be consistent with any previously translated documents?
- Who is your audience? A text that targets lay people is different from a translation that targets professionals.
- What will this text be used for? Does the client want to publish the translation or use it in an oral presentation?
Step 2:
A translator, a native speaker in the U.S. or an in-country translator is selected to translate the source text provided by the client. Any questions the translator may have regarding terminology and any perceived inconsistencies within the text will be communicated to the client. Subsequently, the translator submits the translation to an editor who reviews the text and provides comments. The edited text is returned to the translator who takes the comments provided by the editor into consideration and changes the translation at his or her discretion. Finally, Distinctly Dutch will proofread the text in house before delivering the translation to the client.
Step 3:
The translation is submitted to the client in the format he or she prefers.
Interpretation services
We provide consecutive interpretation services. Consecutive interpretation is a process of interpreting in which the speaker pauses after each sentence to allow the interpreter to interpret the speaker’s words. The interpreter starts speaking when the speaker stops. Consecutive interpreters are often used in depositions. We do consecutive translations on site or by speaker phone.
Editing
Distinctly Dutch will also edit texts and translations that you have produced.
